Description

Product Overview

Protect your valuable loudspeaker drivers from catastrophic amplifier failures and annoying switch-on noises. This compact, high-performance Multi-Channel Speaker Protector is designed to sit between your amplifier output and your speakers. It monitors the output for dangerous DC faults and automatically disconnects the speakers within milliseconds to prevent voice coil burnout.

Ideal for active crossover systems, surround sound setups, or multi-channel Hi-Fi builds, this board can protect up to six separate channels simultaneously while running off your amplifier’s existing power supply.

Why You Need This Module

Prevents "Speaker Killer" Faults: If an output transistor in your amplifier fails, it can send full power supply rail voltage (DC) to your speakers, burning them out instantly. This board detects this DC fault and cuts the connection before damage occurs.

Eliminates Turn-On "Thumps": Provides a 1-2 second delay at power-up, allowing your amplifier to settle before connecting the speakers. No more loud pops or thumps when you flip the switch.

Subwoofer Safe: The intelligent filtering is insensitive to low-frequency AC signals, meaning it won't falsely trip during heavy bass passages (down to ~10Hz).

Key Features & Highlights

DC Output Safeguard: Protect your speakers from DC output originating from the amplifier, whether due to amplifier failures or human error during construction.

Supports Multiple Amplifier Modules: Our protection board can safeguard up to 3 Bridged Driver Amplifiers out or  Six amplifier modules single-ended  (ie, one end is Ground) , or its combination.

Fast Reaction Time: Disconnects speakers in approximately 100ms (0.1 seconds) upon detecting a full-rail DC fault.

Electronic Braking: Uses the relay's normally closed contacts to shunt the speaker's back-EMF to ground after disconnection, effectively "braking" the cone movement.

High-Current Handling: Utilizes robust DPDT relays with contacts rated to break 10A.

Compact Footprint: The clever PCB design fits up to six channels of protection into a board measuring just 95×85x35 mm,  making it easy to fit into 2RU rack cases or tight enclosures.

Flexible Powering: Can operate from the same power supply as your main amplifier (compatible with ±12V to ±40V DC rails).

Optimal Start-Up Delay:  Provides a 1-2 second turn-on delay, allowing your amplifier outputs to stabilize before engaging.

Resistant to Low-Frequency AC Signals:  Remains insensitive to low-frequency AC signals, ensuring consistent performance.

Compact, Cost-Efficient Design: It's a simple, compact, and cost-effective solution, ensuring that your speakers remain safe without breaking the bank.

Bridged Amplifier Compatible: Because the inputs are paired and the circuit uses a power ground reference, it is suitable for protecting bridged amplifier configurations.

Ideal Applications

DIY Audio Projects: Essential safety for homemade Class-AB or Class-D amplifiers.

Active Crossover Systems: Protects tweeters, mid-ranges, and woofers individually.

Home Theater: Perfect for 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound amplifier builds.

PA Systems: Protects expensive stage drivers from equipment failure.

Installation Note

The module requires a connection to the amplifier's power supply (Positive and Ground) and the amplifier's audio ground. It is designed to be "set and forget"—once installed, you should never notice it's there until it saves your speakers. Don't compromise on speaker safety. Invest in our compact and dependable Speaker Protector to keep your valuable speakers in perfect condition.
